First, we would like to thank all our loyal customers who have supported us throughout our journey with Workflow Steps for Jira.
It has been just over two years since we first launched the app. During that time, our team has worked tirelessly to make the app what it is today. In addition to helping our customers generate over 1.4 million workflow executions, we have added new features and functionality to help them work more efficiently between Jira and Slack. Having recently announced our first paid subscriptions for the app, we had many exciting plans ahead.
Given this, we were disappointed to learn that from September 2024, Slack will no longer allow apps like Workflow Steps for Jira to extend and enhance the functionality of its next-generation Workflow Builder 2.0.
What does this news mean for our customers?
While discussions are ongoing with Slack, as things stand at the moment, Workflow Steps for Jira will no longer be available from September 2024.
We deeply regret having to tell our customers this news, but we want you to reassure everyone who uses our app that their needs remain our top priority. With this in mind, we will continue supporting existing and new customers until September 2024.
We recommend you plan ahead for your needs beyond that date. As always, we are here to offer assistance and advice if needed.
Here's how you can continue to use our app
Up until September 2024, our customers can continue to access Workflow Steps for Jira and take advantage of all its features via Slack's Legacy Workflows tab. After September 2024, Workflow Steps for Jira will no longer be available in Slack, as all its legacy workflows will be retired.
Please note: Slack should be able to assist you if you need to know when Workflow Builder 2.0 will be deployed to your instance. It is our understanding that the rollout of their next-generation Workflow Builder will take place silently and in stages.
Customised solutions are still possible—and we can help!
While Workflow Builder 2.0 will not allow the integration of third-party apps like Workflow Steps for Jira, organisations can build their own localised extensions and customisations, meaning bespoke professional services solutions are still possible.
We understand this isn't ideal, but we are here to support you if you need it. In addition to our work with Slack, Adaptavist is one of the longest standing and largest Atlassian partners in the world and continues to provide products and professional services to help the many millions of Atlassian users globally.
Looking to the future
It has been a fantastic journey so far, and we thank all our customers and well-wishers for helping us to get Workflow Steps for Jira where it is today. In light of this news, our team is here to assist you with any questions you may have at slacksupport@adaptavist.com.
If you are a fan of Workflow Steps for Jira and want it to be included in Workflow Builder 2.0, please contact feedback@slack.com. We really appreciate your support. It means a lot.
PS If you want to learn more about Workflow Builder 2.0, Slack has released an article as part of their developer documentation.
